Packaging and Embellishments Drive Business for 140+ Year-Old Printer

Sharing and inspiring innovation is a cornerstone of the Scodix culture. We follow sharing innovation in embellished print closely with paths to using those innovations to drive more business and create impactful customer experiences. They say when you are passionate about something, you should surround yourself with those that are like-minded. Our passion for embellished print, and the incredible customer experiences it creates, spills over into our customers—and they become amazing ambassadors of print that are unexpected and memorable.

Something unexpected can drive interest, but many printers out there wonder how it will spur on business and success for their organization. This is where those fantastic ambassadors come in; the best way to share the possibilities is to share our customer stories. One dovetails the power of embellishment, the opportunity in the packaging market and how companies that are nearing 150 years in business are staying relevant to print buyers. Let us introduce The Anstadt Company, a family-owned printing and marketing services company that had its humble beginnings back in 1878.

The Anstadt Company refers to themselves as an integrated marketing and graphics communications company. They are headquartered in York, Pennsylvania and are comprised of three brands: Anstadt Communications, Central File Marketing and K Press with locations in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Texas. The company is an innovator and is always looking towards the future to best serve its customers. With a client base that ranges from global to local brands, they offer print buyers a variety of marketing and commercial print services, including embellished digital packaging.

We emphasize digital packaging as Matt Doran, CEO at The Anstadt Company, sat down recently with Deborah Corn at Print Media Centr to discuss digital packaging, sustainability and how that is on the company’s innovation radar. And they are looking to leverage their investment in Scodix Digital Enhancement Presses to drive opportunity and success. Take a listen to the full Podcast for the Printerverse below.

Why is this important as you look at the future of your print shop? Matt discusses how packaging before the global pandemic was about number four in their list of revenue generation business segments. The pandemic flipped that, and it is now number one. People need on-demand packaging, fast turns, embellishments, and customization. Now, in full disclosure, The Anstadt Company made a strategic and innovative move to install Scodix technology back in 2016. The results from that first venture into embellished print back in October of 2016 inspired them to share their story. You can read and watch the interview from a few years ago, but the highlights include paying off their first press in just over 12 months with demand keeping their Scodix press running non-stop.

As Deborah and Matt discuss in their conversation on Podcasts from the Printerverse, the packaging market has many opportunities. Supporting that is our recent blog discussing the packaging market and recent research on the market potential over the next five years, Market Share You Will Want in Packaging! And Tips on How to Grab It.  The digital packaging market projection is $145 billion and 59 million tonnes of growth by 2024. To add to that, buyers are looking for “superior printing technologies” that will include specialized finishing techniques—offerings that Scodix specializes in making possible for digital print environments.

As you absorb this information, we invite you to reach out to our team here at Scodix. We offer free samples and are ready to help you find the right fit for print embellishments in your organization. Be sure to read more of our blogs and customer success stories for more innovation and inspiration.
