SCODIX SIGNS S74 UPGRADE DEAL WITH ACCULINK FOR JOB FULFILMENT SERVICES

Versatility, size and quality provide impetus to upgrade to Scodix’s latest offering, unveiled at drupa 2012

Scodix, Drupa, May 09, 2012 –

Scodix today announced a deal with US printing, finishing and fulfillment company Acculink to upgrade their existing Scodix 1200 press to the latest Scodix S74 – a B2+ (29”) press launched exclusively at drupa 2012. With a modular design that can accommodate thicker substrates and providing a higher Scodix SENSETM solution up to 250 microns, the press opens more opportunities to print service providers.
As a stand-alone solution compatible with offset, laminated sheets and digital print feeds, the Scodix S-series press can automatically process substrates from 135 to 675gsm (6-30 points) and thickness up to 700 microns. As a modular design, customers can also add the latest Braille print option and Rainbow Glitter capabilities – two more innovations launched by Scodix at the drupa event.
Acculink, in North Carolina, USA, was keen to upgrade the capabilities of the Scodix 1200 to the Scodix S74 to suit its demanding work schedule. Over its 31 years of trading, it has built up a reputation that sees it handle more than 2,000 jobs a month, mostly from trade customers and print brokers for small format, short-run jobs.
Tom O’Brien, Acculink Managing Director, says: “We bought the Scodix 1200 last year and immediately fell in love with it. When I heard Scodix were launching a new press at drupa, I had to come over to see it. They have provided us with a great service from the very start and the Scodix S74 will hit the spot with some of the ideas we have for it. It will also integrate straight into our Pageflex and Storefront operating systems.
“When we first bought the Scodix technology we produced a range of personalised books for our customers with their names enhanced on the covers. They absolutely loved it and the orders have been coming in ever since. The new capabilities of the Scodix S74 will enable us to handle thicker weight stocks and print at larger sizes, along with increasing our overall productivity.”

The Scodix S74 provides the tangible Scodix SENSE™ experience using advanced jetting blocks and multiple independently controlled inkjet nozzles to deliver Scodix’s proprietary PolySENSETM clear polymer in small drops. The Scodix patent-pending Optical Print Alignment (OPA) camera system executes enhancements with pinpoint accuracy, scanning each and every sheet to ensure delivery of the Scodix PolySENSE™ clear polymer to its exact location.
The Scodix S Digital Press has the power to stir the senses with its creations and to produce an eye-catching, memorable experience. Using unique digital enhancement capabilities, it can produce 99 Gloss Units (GU) – the highest gloss available for printed materials – up to 250 microns in polymer height and variable density capabilities, ranging from 1% to 100%.

Mr O’ Brien says the level of service from Scodix has been outstanding. “When we first bought the Scodix press, we had some concerns about the level of support we might receive. My first problem happened on a Thursday afternoon, which was late Thursday evening over at the company headquarters in Israel.
“I thought that I may get a phone call over the weekend, if I was lucky. But within three minutes of sending the email, an engineer replied to me. He identified the software problem remotely, wrote a patch to solve it and sent it to me to download. I was up and running again within the hour. That’s not bad in anyone’s book now, is it?”
Ziki Kuly, Scodix Vice President of Marketing says: “We are delighted that Acculink has visited us to continue its relationship here at drupa. It proves that our technology is really making a difference to print service companies both large and small and demonstrates how responsive our customer service teams are. We hope to continue building relationships with companies throughout the world as more and more experience the benefits of Scodix’ technology solutions. ”
