The first-ever Scodix (Booth 4422) press conference in America was held Monday afternoon at the GRAPH EXPO show, with Scodix representatives Dror Danai and Ziki Kuly demonstrating how their Israel-based firm’s products can help providers be more successful and make more money.

“Turning printing into an experience is the only way to survive these days,” says Danal.

Printing with the Scodix 1200 Digital Press transforms prints into visual and tactile experiences. The effect is something different, which can in turn command premium prices from clients.

Demonstrating, Danal and Kuly distributed to attendees a Scodix-produced Spider-Man movie poster. “The first thing that attracts your eye is the gloss,” says Kuly. “Then your hand is driven to touch it. When you feel that there’s a tactile sense to the image, you begin moving your hand over it. You cannot help it. And you find there are different levels of texture.”

The texture is strong, doesn’t peel off, and can be applied to both sides of the substrate. “It’s a great system for any image that is premium, and must be perfect,” says Kuly.

One delighted Scodix customer said of pricing the product to his own customers, “We still haven’t found how high a price is too high.”
