Kenning Outsource Group (Saint Cloud, MN), internationally recognized for outstanding trade-finishing and print craftsmanship, centers its award-winning, and technologically – advanced operation in a 26,000 square footprint production space. By doing so, since 1997, Kenning Outsource Group has delivered premium finishing services to a demanding customer base.
Their dedication to the highest quality starts with their vision of excellence, achieved through an investment in extraordinary technology. In other words, superior services start with superior tools, and their “latest and greatest” investment is a Scodix Digital Enhancement Press. As Corporate President Darren Kenning describes it, “Scodix turns flat printed sheets into memorable marketing that you can see AND feel.”
Targeting New Business
Darren said the Scodix products will allow his firm to offer the best enhancement options on the market, increasing options and profits for its mainstream printers and print broker clients. The company’s target market ranges from ad agencies to the industries smallest and largest printers: it includes such print industry giants as Quad Graphics, RR Donnelley, Nahan, and Merrill Corporation.
Darren also appreciated that Scodix handled the set up as well as the training for his staff. He described the press operations as “precise, but simple”.
Christina Tolson, Sales Executive at Omega High-Impact Print Solutions (Egg Harbor Township, NY), is a fan of both Kenning Outsource Group and Scodix. She and several of their team members talked with Darren at GraphExpo 2014 where Darren displayed the Scodix Press products. “We had never seen anything like it before”, she said, “and were absolutely blown away by its capabilities.”
Following GraphExpo, Christina asked Darren for a price on 650 double-sided postcards and was surprised at the figure. “We anticipated at least four times the normal cost, but learned the process was very affordable compared to traditional finishing techniques. Using Scodix allowed us to stay on budget,” she adds.
Darren said Christina’s project displayed beautiful artwork, “She wanted something that would stand out and get an enthusiastic response.” The process, which took advantage of Scodix 3D surfacing, required only one-pass printing. “On Christina’s piece, we ‘Scodix’d’ a pipeline, some type, and a watermark logo in the background,” he added. Darren notes that the dynamic final image and fast turnaround are what separates Scodix from everybody else.
“Scodix’d”, of course, refers to the remarkable special effect the Scodix Digital Press machine can create. The press is fairly simple to operate and is only limited by one’s imagination and creativity in creating a memorable and outstanding piece. Having a printed page “Scodix’d” literally makes the printed page “pop”.
In sharing other unique Scodix projects, Darren described a wine box his company coated for a Minneapolis printer. “We applied heavy coverage over the entire wine box, running 2-up on 20 x 29-in sheet. The final product looked amazing, very high-end, which was what the customer was aiming for. It’s sure to create a tactile sensation making it a memorable piece for the customer,” he said. Another Scodix project comprised numerous business cards that displayed delicate detail and design. Using Scodix on a business card tends to leave a lasting impression on anyone who receives one.
“The Scodix process offers an imaging dream come true – you immediately see and feel the difference, it’s stunning.”
Darren Kenning, President Kenning Outsource Group.
A Difference Maker
Darren said Scodix has allowed Kenning Outsource Group to leap beyond its competition. Even better, he said, it allows our clients to leap beyond their competition. “It’s a big deal for designers,” he said. “It’s a way to enhance print in a way that hasn’t been available before, it’s a new ‘tool’ in their toolbox. The Scodix process becomes an imaging dream come true – you immediately see and feel the difference, it’s stunning.”
