Gee7 has commissioned a Scodix S75 print enhancement equipment, which has boosted its business by 20%. The Scodix at Gee7 was supplied by Monotech Systems, Scodix’s Indian representative.

Vishal Luther, CEO, Gee7 Printek, said, “Scodix is a costly machine but the print perfection that it delivers is excellent and if you cater to creative jobs, then it is the perfect machine for you. It is an appropriate print enhancement machine for short run and personalised jobs. Being a new innovation in its market space, we are educating people about its capabilities and strengths. Since we have installed the machine, work has started flowing in from Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, West Bengal and other parts of the country. We got double digit increment in our business because of Scodix. Wedding albums are a lifelong memory and with this machine we can provide better quality and a wider range.”pic 1

Gee7 has a unique origin story, seven top photographers came under one banner and started a digital printing company at Ludhiana in 2009, a rare proposition of business in the region, where most of the businesses are still family-owned. The founding seven partners were from Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Bhatinda. Each photographer in the group has their own photo studio in different cities of the state but production is under roof and collective.

Narinder Sood, Kulbhushan Luther, Kuldeep Singh, Ravinder Luther, Vikas Garg and Lakhvinder Singh are the other shareholders in the company.

Gee7 had started its production printing with HP Indigo 5500 digital printing press with binding and print enhancement equipment. Luther recalls, “When we used to outsource our work it was done on Indigos so we were experienced and satisfied with the quality. Customers came to us for complete solutions when we did not have printing facility. Printing quality of HP Indigo is very good because of their liquid ink technology.”

Right now, Gee7 has two printing facilities – Ludhiana and Bhatinda which are equipped with HP Indigo 5600 and 5500 respectively. “Competition is essential to grow and right now the competition is stiff. We had raise our quality parameters so that our customers can see the difference in our and others jobs with naked eyes and had started to charge more,” added Luther.

The wedding albums specialist also print decorated canvas, visiting cards, broachers, tags and booklets for textile industry and certificates for educational institutes. The ratio between wedding photo albums and other jobs is 80:20. Gee7 can manufacture around 800 photo albums per day at their facilities in Ludhiana and Bhatinda. Both the units print around 25,000 sheets per day, both sides. Luther added that we are ready to upgrade and invest in printing and print enhancement technology, but the invest will be only in digital.

Luther concluded, “Expansion is must and we are ready for it but first we would like to cover Punjab and then other places. We would like to do 150 photo albums with Scodix per day.”

To ensure on time delivery of their products, Gee7 has collaborations with transport department and online tracking system. Around 180 people work round the clock at Gee7.
