Scodix (Hall 4, standB31) has sold its first S74 digital embossing press into Russia to design agency CherryPie.

The machine, launched at drupa, uses an advanced jetting block and multiple independently controlled inkjet nozzles to deliver clear polymers in small drops and multiple layers for B2 and B3-plus applications.
The commercial design agency CherryPie, which produces one-off pieces such as personalised albums and hardback books, bought the machine to “add a dimension” to its products and create an impact with customers.
CherryPie new business director Evgeny Timoshchenko said: “We wanted to buy the Scodix press as it provides unique functionalities and features. We like challenging jobs that add creativity and value to products.
“While we do standard print jobs, we prefer coming up with solutions to outstanding jobs that will really capture people’s imaginations.”
Moscow-based CherryPie is already geared up for digital production with Xerox iGen4 and HP Indigo machines, and is enhancing this offering with the installation of the S74.
Scodix marketing vice-president Ziki Kuly said: “The machine’s Scodix Sense technology turns printing into an experience. The high-gloss effect induces customers to touch the products, which sticks in the memory 10 times better than just looking at them. The marketing impact from holding a product is huge.”
The S74 was launched at drupa along with the S52, and supports substrates up to 675gsm and 0.7mm. Scodix also announced the add-on applications Scodix Rainbow, which digitally transfers glitter to products, and Inkjet-Braille, which enables printing of shapes in Braille.
Printing as experience: CherryPie said the S74 would allow it to do jobs that “captured the imagination”.
