Scodix Metallic offers managers two production options. The first is to print directly onto silver foil stock, specifically approved for Indigo presses. Using CYMK and varying values of white, you can achieve any metallic color on top of the foil. The second way is though lamination. The board paper stock is laminated (80 lb cover weight or essentially any stock desired) by applying the lamination and running it through the Indigo press. We print directly on top of the lamination. The initial process makes the piece look dull but by applying Scodix, it makes the metallic areas really pop, adding both a metallic look and a dimensional feel.
We’ve already done many metallic projects but the most memorable were some laminated business folders (about a 1000) we produced in multiple versions. Customers really react positively when they see the metallic effect and how it impacts the response to their product or presentation. The first step was to educate the market about Scodix and now we’re going back to the market with this new feature.
Before Scodix, we did print on silver stock, but by using the Scodix Metallic feature, combined with the Scodix feel, the metallic effect really makes each project unique and special. The Scodix look and feel really converts new clients into believers. Working with Scodix tools is easy, the challenge is educating the marketplace, especially creative. Creative professionals have long been shy about designing with metallic effects. With Scodix, the time, cost, and application is dramatically reduced, making it much more designer-friendly.
For Tukaiz, Scodix Metallic offers so much in potential future revenues. Simply stated, it’s quicker, cheaper, multiple color metallic printing with an expectation of much faster turnaround. The finished product is as good as traditional accepted methods, but faster and you can get more creative with it. It offers a minimal learning curve with those familiar with Scodix, and similar to learning to build a PMS or spot color library. We’re excited about its future at Tukaiz.
